Medyla decrespignyi (Hinggins, 1868)
(Issel, 1874)
“The animal has exactly the same form of shell-lobes as in X. glutinosa above described.” (Godwin-Austen, 1891)
“In Dr. Hungerford's collection there is one specimen which in every respect resembles this shell except in coloration, this being of the pale yellowish tint of X. glutinosa, and like that shell having a single thin dark band on the periphery, a similar variation to that met with in X. glutinosa, only in an opposite direction.” (Godwin-Austen, 1891)
Higgins (1868) original descriptions on Nanina (Xesta) de-crespignyi – “N. testa anguste perforata, turbiniformi, tenui, polita, pellucida, castanea, leviter radiato-striatula; spira elevata, convexo-conica, vertice obtuso, sutura impressa, vix albo marginata; anfractibus 6, convexiusculis, ultimo non descendente, periph. rotundato, medio fascia albida cincto, basi convexo; aperture parum oblonga, rotundato-lunari; perist. recto, acuto; margine collumellari declivi, leviter arcuato, superne dilatato, supra perforationem reflexo.”
Tryon (1886) descriptions on Nanina (Xesta) crespignyi – “Narrowly perforate, thin, pellucid, polished, lightly radiately striulate; chestnut-colored, with a narrow peripheral yellowish band; whorls 6, the suture scarcely margined with white.”
Nanina (Xesta) de-crespignyi – “Diam. maj. 25, min. 22, alt. 18 mill.” (Higgins, 1868); Nanina (Xesta) crespignyi – “Diam. 25, alt. 18 mill.” (Tryon, 1886); “In quest' ultimo verificai le dimensioni seguenti: Diametro magg. 23, min. 19; altezza 17; lungh. Della apert. H , largh. 7 Mill.” (Issel, 1874)
Type locality – “Labuan.” (Higgins, 1868)

Distributions – “This very distinct Xesta was found in tolerable abundance by Lieut. De Crespigny.” (Higgins, 1868)
“So far only known from old records; The Labuan population is presumably extinct; the Trusan Valley has not been explored malacologically in recent years. The species seems absent from well-explored limestone areas further to the West; Niah Caves N.P., and Gunung Mulu N.P. The new records in the Tatau River basin show that the species occurs in highly localized population, apparently on and near limestone hills.” (Vermeulen & Junau, 2007)
“Lowland rainforest on and near limestone bedrock. Active at night, creeping on the forest floor and on vegetation.” (Vermeulen & Junau, 2007)
